Green is good

Finally home after a hectic but beautiful and sunny day. All I feel like doing is enjoying a delicious green apple martini, put my feet up and enjoy the rest of the night.
I've been eying this elegant and still relatively affordable tote Cole Haan Vintage Valise Kendra Tote.

God is in the DETAILS

Fresh flowers, mirrored boxes and framed art in a powder room, all in white, black and gilded- it's always a delight to unveil. While displaying more accessories such as sketches, handsome hand written poems and artistic plates in front of a chicken-wire-like bookcase is a nod to "everything is in the details"

sorry don't remember the sources.

Perfectly displayed

The past few days have been gloriously sunny and I couldn't be happier. In the prelude of Spring all the great things seem to start happening, only waking up earlier is not such of an effort anymore, editing our home decors seem to flow naturally. It feels exactly what it is, a breath of fresh new air that won't freeze your lungs. When I think of the beginning of spring I imagine greenery and I love the use of it in the last photo; put in a collection of clear glasses and accessorized with jewelry. In the first image, however there is no greenery anywhere but the clarity of it and the stacking of the books is very fresh and young in a way. Recently I posted about how I enjoy seeing real bookcases. I have the books in my kitchen's built-in displayed with the paperback side facing back the wall so there would be more symmetry in color. Here is a sneak peek of my kitchen's bookcases if you wish to see.

Detail of the day; vignette

Like in many other aspects of design, things seem to look more appealing to me when there is continuation in color and contrast in texture. This small vignette, for example, shares aged golden tones among every one of the pieces while the painted mercury candle motive brakes with the similarity in texture which I think make the outlook interesting.

Cheers to the right people

Well, what a little bit of a hectic weekend this was. From unsuccessfully searching for "the right" piece of furniture I came to end my weekend weeping in front of the TV while watching Secret Millionaires. Did you guys watch it? We need more people in the world like these doing the right thing. Not everything was about learning trough unwanted experience though I also got to spend good quality time with families and friends. I hope your week is well off to a good start.

Keepsakes

via
The very best part of traveling is the memories you bring home to share with family and friends. When I go away I always try to buy something I would really love to live with for life. Timeless hallmark symbols of the cities we visit like the Eiffel tower are a great way to always remember that special trip.

Beautiful Vignettes

From fresh flowers reflecting on a burst mirror..... to skinny sculptural horses on a side table..... to African mask and textiles in a bathroom...The options to decorate small spaces are infinite, yet make such a difference.

Love color

A perfect way of living a life, surrounded by beautiful shoes displays, open fire and beautiful shades of pastel colors. It sounds like Marie Antoinette.

Christmas eye candy

As I mentioned before we're having a tree-less Christmas this year so I'm searching high and low for inspiration of little vignettes that can be easily created around the house. I'm sure many people choose to do this when they have little children running around the house. I hope these images get you inspired to have a beautiful Christmas even when not having a Christmas tree. Enjoy

We all need some pink

Life does get hectic. Please forgive my lack of sentences in my posts because I've been quite busy lately. I only hope you like what you see...

What a folding table can do for you

As I promised yesterday I'm posting three fabulous looks of how to convert a corner into something pretty and functional for very little money. All you'll need is a folding table, a tablecloth which you can make out of anything from curtains to bed sheets and a few accessories.
A Tropical bar...

I wanted to create a tropical bar, so in order to do that I thought of all the elements with tropical influences; for instance rattan, cane hats, cigar boxes, orchids, leafs, etc. The same can be applied to create any atmosphere into a room or vignette. I framed a piece of fabric I got at Brunschwig & Fils sale using an Ikea frame for an impact effect; used some cigar boxes we kept from our wedding, a cane lamp, my own hats, silver little trays for contrasting against the woods and pink orchids to bring out the pink on the fabric and on the Monte Carlo casino cards (these ones were used in Monte Carlo by the way.) It's fun to see their black marks, it's a great topic of conversation and makes everything more real and interesting.
A Global Chic Collector's Table

For displaying a personal collection. I agree with everyone who believes that collections look better when grouped together. In this case I used our vintage shelves that are handed down to us by my lovely in-laws. To add to the traveler collector setting I used the Vitruvian Man by Leonardo Da Vinci as the art piece, on sale for only $15 here. Dried plants, yes, I think they look perfect on this table, books, Chinese broaches, Chinese porcelain and a parsley tablecloth add the perfect touch to the soul of this Global Chic collector's table.
A Home Office...

For the home desk I selected white and blue as the color scheme, but in a more fresh and modern way. The tablecloth is actually a curtain but I loved the detail of the faded polka dots so much that I thought it would add a fun effect. For wall art I hanged our Dali lithograph as the focal point and sided with two very inexpensive silhouettes I got from KZukowski and finished it up with two bronze plates I got at my local vintage store. The use of bronze on the walls and on the table act as an invisible string that pulls it all together. I love to use every surface for inspiration hence the lampshade and the flower base used as inspirational boards, something I have done before.

Have a great weekend

I love how the designers incorporated something new or modern in these spaces to bring a fresh touch to an otherwise rigid design.

The black and white photograph and the modern stool paired with some classic elements keep this room light.

The new and unexpected finish on the stool brings it up today.

The black and white wall art makes this room unexpected.
