An Inspired Awkward & Awesome Thursday

Awesome.

- Plum & Turquoise
- Inspired outfits by Rachel Roy
- Outfits with interesting color mixtures.  I can't get enough - I'll try it all.
- April.  Tomorrow is April!  Means patio time, margarita's, sunshine and summer ahead.
- More California time ahead - freshly back from family vacay in Sonoma and San Fransisco, and I'll be back to CA for a fun work conference in less than 2 weeks!
- Dinner parties with friends - had a fun one at my house last night, and wee bit tired today because of it!
- Pay day! Been waiting for this so I can justify a lil J.Crew order...
- Last day to vote for me to be blogger of the month - takes 2 seconds to click & vote for Chasing Davies, please help me out! :) Click here and look for the poll on the right side!

Awkward.
 - Wearing tights in late March.  Seriously? I'm over it.  That is me saying that - I LOVE tights, you know... but I'm over it now.
- Awkward outfit shot in a hotel room, with poor lighting to boot!
- Snow on freshly bloomed flowers - actually, that's not awkward, that's just mean!
-Tripping in front of an entire group of people meeting on my way to the bathroom (I really had to pee, and everyone then knew)!
- Adult break outs!  I don't know if it's the flying (recycled air usually makes me feel a little ick), lack of sleep, or getting immune to my face wash - but I'm broken out way more than usual!

Dress for Less: Bethenny's Navy Blue Jumpsuit

Have you all been watching Bethenny Ever After on Bravo (Monday nights at 10/9c)?  I started, not sure I'd get hooked, but I did! I love it.  She is so much better on her own show than RHONY.  I feel like Bethenny helps you see how it really is to be a busy (I mean a REALLY busy) mom, full-time worker, newly wed and on the go.  Plus, she is rediculously hilarious - and dresses really well.

Get Bethenny's navy blue jumpsuit look for LESS.

You can get her similar jumpsuit from Old Navy for $29.50 (and now through 3/20 get 30% off with the coupon in post below)

And get her bling-look, too:

Paved gold ring for under $6 from Forever 21 and Textured Teardrop gold earrings for under $3 from Forever 21

And you can't forget to drink this while wearing all that:
Has anyone ever tried Bethenny's Skinny Girl Margarita?

Washington D.C. Color

This past weekend I was in Washington D.C. - visiting one of my best friend's & going to Lady Gaga concert!  Oh my gosh was it all so fun.  I saw Gaga in KC back in August and it was so fabulous, I had to see her again!  She did not disappoint, and this time having her new song, Born This Way as the finale.

I also spent a lot of time with friends, exploring the city, shopping, eating and taking pictures!  I found so much color in DC, even though the weekend was pretty overcast and windy!

My friend lived in a row of town homes (would you call these brown stones, or is that only a NYC term?), and these were part of her row.  I loved the colors and flaking in paint.

Does anyone recognize this butterfly wall?  It is at Bloomies.  I loved the neon butterflies against the white wall - almost as I love how my friend rocks a turban on her head!  Her bright silk scarf wrapped around her hair is a fun pop of color on any gray day.  I'll have more on this some other time...as I want to try this myself & also have a how-to!

We found a great home store near Logan Circle, call Reincarnations.  It was filled with vibrant home design & decor and I wanted to take it all home!  It was so well priced!  I left with a beautiful pillow that you'll see in my bedroom soon... But look at this teal room (love the double chandelier) and glass heads!

I entered DC in this outfit...and little did I know, that DC was not going to be as warm as I thought - so this stripe blazer (my only "jacket" I brought) was worn a lot, layered on top of the clothing I brought to try to keep me a little warm...

Major Orange Crush

It started with some orangie/coral heels, then a skinny belt, nto nail polish, then lip stick...now I'm craving some orange for my closet.  It's official - I'm Orangified!

Orange Crush

You almost, almost, don't even notice the crappy paint job and little nubbin' nails with this Revlon "Craving Coral" Nail Polish painted on.  Looks a lot more orangey than red in person, sans harsh flash (not winning any photog awards on that pic)

If you can avoid looking up my nose, you might see my fun painted pucker - oooo love that Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Siren.  And it even lasted through my morning coffee, bagel and into the afternoon!

Absolutely perfect springy-summer dresses that I must get my hands on....

Brought to you by Beso.com

I'm on the hunt for some cute orange flats, too!  Haven't found any I adore yet... YET!

My Favs of NY Fashion Week

I've been doing a wee-bit of New York Fashion Week digging and have found a few looks I'll definitely be excited to try come Fall (or now!).   My fav NYFW looks:

Prabal Gurung, 3.1 Philip Li, Thakoon & DKNY
 Images from Refinery29

Prabal Gurung: I'm already loving pinks and corals/oranges mixed together - makes me think of spring and summer!

3.1 Philip Li: Kelly green is a long time fav color of mine to wear - the mix of it with grey and black definately makes this a great fall/winter look.

Takkoon: Wearing different shades & hues of the same color is hard to do for me - but love this look so much, I will definitely be giving it a try.  I also am kinda getting hooked to Navy & rich blues right now...

DKNY: Stripes continue into Fall, and that is really good since over the last couple of years I have really collected a stock pile of this pattern.  This look reminds me the the bubble gum stripes trend I love so much.

What are your favorite NYFW looks/designers??

Day 19 {There's that blizzard}

See?  I told you the Snomageddon was coming!!  It huffed and it puffed and blew loads of snow all around.  I braved the wind, cold and giant snow flakes to get some shots outside.  And I loved it.

Here is might BRIGHT outfit to break out from all the white around me...inspired by Sydney.

 {Blinded by the Light}

{I would have rather worn high heels with this outfit, but given the snow, I grabbed the boots.}

So besides frolic around in negative degree, snowy weather in tights, I made a big batch of home made mac & cheese for the hubs and me.  Comfort food is perfect on a cold day like this!

 {Grated cheddar cheese & buttery Corn Flakes = Mmmm-Good}

I also hung our with hubs and Chuck.  Sweet Chuckie loves the snow...

What did you do in the snow?  And if you're one of the 14 states without snow, I don't want to know!

For the Love of Lonny

I just love when the Lonny Email arrives when there is a new online issue ready for me to virtually flip through, able to click right on a photo I like and it takes me right to the site to purchase or learn more.  That might be the best thing about Online Magazines. Here are a few of my favorite things from the Jan/Feb issue:

I especially love the pink, orange and navy color block outfit.
You'll see more orange & pink color mixtures from me soon... :)

Dress for Less - Anthro Look, part 2

Part 2 of today's Dress for Less series: Anthropologie inspired.  Again with the Anthropologie floral dress... but this time I have other options if your wallet isn't big enough for Anthro or the dress didn't quite fit well (a la me).

Inspiration Look:

First, I dug around in my closet to try to recreate this look with what I already own (and my new grey boots that arrived this week).
My recreation of look from the depths of my closet:

 Ok, so not exactly a great replica.  But I already had the dress.
I should have worn my more solid tights.
And I love these boots.  They are so comfy and easy.
Dress is from Anthro summer of 2009.

Perhaps my favorite potential recreated look:

Outfit pieces:
LOVE the Dress by Envi from Bluefly;
Navy tights from Charlottle Russe
Boots from Target (push them down to get the Anthro styled look)

And more dress shopping options for you to choose from:

Floral Dresses: Forever 21; Tracy Reese; ExpressBCBG Maxazria

Have you tried on this dress?  Love it (jealous if so), got it (still jealous).  Maybe I'll try it again if it's still avail once it goes on sale. :)

The Bachelor Recap: My Fav Dresses

I wasn't very impressed with the dress/fashion choices for the premier of The Bachelor.  There were very few dresses I liked. Obviously I loved Lisa M.'s blue one-shoulder dress and already posted about that one.  But here are a couple more dresses worn by some other contestants that I liked, and similar dress options.

Kimberly, who is still in the game after the first rose ceremony wore a super fun and cute sequin dress:

The skirt part, especially seen as she is walking kind of reminds me of the issues I had with the Jessica Simpson dress I reviewed (here).  But she is little enough to pull it off, and the sweetheart neckline is so feminine. Her dress, I believe, is from Lipsy via Asos (however, currently out of stock):

So since it does not appear to be available right now anywhere online...here are some that are (as I write this post) and similar:

Dress by same brand, Lipsy & similar cut - sequin on top only; Another Libsy dress, all black sequins; Similar in shape and still some bling, silver sweetheart dress; Perhaps not the most flattering pose by a model...but a purple sequin dress if you love the original color; Not strapless, but purple, and cute sequin dress only $41!

And the other dress I liked was Lisa P.'s (not to be confused by my Lisa M.).  Lisa P. did not make it through the first ceremony, so we won't see her again.  But she wore a simple black cocktail dress, with adorable scalloped edges.

You can buy, what I'm pretty sure is her dress via Ebay.  It is by BCBG (Black Strapless Applique Taffeta Dress):

And here are some other dresses that are similar in style:

Miu Miu via Net-a-Porter; John Lewis; Or a very scalloped dress but in red by Violet Muse

Did you have any favorite dresses from the premier of The Bachelor?
