Visiting Antony Todd Studio

Yesterday while walking through Greenwich Village I passed by Antony Todd's beautiful store and I had to go inside. The store was beautifully decorated in Antony Todd's usual sophisticated mixture of classic and modern with global chic accessories sprinkled throughout. I took a few pictures and thought you may like to peek into this beautiful store. I'm sure you'll find it a great source of inspirations.

I love these vintage Suzani sachets filled with lavender. Perfect to keep the closets smelling delicious. I still kick my head for not having the time to go and visit Antony Todd's showroom in Istanbul during my recent trip there. I'm sure I could have found the perfect souvenirs.

Lazaro Rosa Violan

“The interior designer is an actor, he must dress up and change roles, understand new identities and integrate them with his own. says Violan.” There is not much that can be said to match up that statement except to look at his work and delight on how spectacular Lazaro Rosa Violan
reflects his clients lifestyle in a unique sense of style that is timeless and luxurious yet warm. I first came across Lazaro Rosa Violan's work via Nevo Estilo and instantly loved the mixture of vintage furniture with modern art and touches of ethnic pieces. "Together, we aim to create rich and beautiful interiors that, although meticulously contrived, carry an air of ‘lived-in’ spontaneity" he says and I couldn't agree more.

I absolutely love his studio/home and how meticulously it’s put together, notice how the white is the background without losing Protagonism and how the browns and gold of the antique Chinese screen pick up the countertop and hardware. Violan's studio used to be a cotton factory before.

Lazaro has an impressive portfolio including Hotels and Restaurants worldwide. Below, images of one his developing projects. Hotel Pulitzer, Barcelona.

a look into Jonathan Adler & Simon Doonan's home

A darling reader sent me this link to Plum TV where you can watch Johnathan Adler in his studio making pottery and also look inside his home. As you may expect, it's a fun and beautiful home, full of colors and individuality. The video is a little long but if you have time try to watch it until the end and listen to how Simon and Jonathan confronted difficult situations in their lives that encouraged them to accomplish what they have today.

Enjoy your Halloween weekend!

The Warm Side of Wicker

One of the things I enjoy the most about the Fall season is to hear the crackling of our fireplace. Although it needs a face lift; mantel, new fire utensils etc, I'm getting ready to take my wicker basket out and fill it up with fire logs. Have a fabulous weekend!!

Mirror Mirror

When I visited the Munich Residenz, a palace that served as the seat of government and residence of the Bavarian dukes, electors and kings from 1508 to 1918, and I walked through this magnificent hallway, I was instantly transported to the beautiful kitchen (last bottom picture) designed by Scott Slarsky and Katarina Edlund that was featured in former Metropolitan Home magazine in 2007. Impressive resemblance.

Exquisite

After being far away from home for the past week (somewhere in Europe) I surprise myself at the idea of sometimes doing nothing is all I need. I'll be posting a little bit about my trip in the nearest future.

Mandarin Oriental Barcelona

Mandarin Oriental Barcelona, the Mandarin Oriental’s first luxury hotel in Southern Europe located in the chic and central boulevard of Passeig de GrĂ cia. I thought it would be only good to see some pictures of its beautiful interior. This elegant building that previously used to house a bank comes alive with a full revival and beautiful interior design by Spanish designer, Patricia Urquiola.

The skylights and the hanging plants used in the lounge evoke a heavenly oasis.

Did I mention that this Hotel has a rooftop swimming pool where you can contemplate the beauty of Barcelona's famous architecture?

A Perfect beach house

When I think of a long weekend the first thing that comes to my mind is a comfy beach house where to escape. Since we can't go anywhere this weekend I can only dream of being in this gorgeous house designed by Tom Scheerer that has enchanted me since the first time I laid my eyes on it.

I love how the beauty of this house slowly reveals itself. As I keep looking at it I can notice the different colors and textures that at first are barely discernible due to the calmness in the colors. I also love how the playful patterns on the fabrics and wallpapers and the comfortable furniture make this house perfect for a family vacation home with a great degree of sophistication. As this house proves, a beach house doesn't have to lack grandeur.

Have a happy 4th of July weekend!!!
