Kitchen of the week designed by Andrew Raquet

Isn't this kitchen the ultimate American style kitchen? It was designed by Andrew Raquet and I can't get enough of its use of marble, brass pendants over the island and the gorgeous arrangement of hydrangeas. How fresh and simple the use of fruits to decorate around the kitchen. Below is how to get the look without any remodeling involved.

Kitchen of the Week, Think outside the box

I posted a few months ago about this new trend of kitchens looking like anything else but conventional kitchens. This trend seems to be determined to linger over a little longer, which is perfect for small spaces. The first two images are great examples of this idea. In this kitchen the modern lines of the only existing lower cabinets juxtapose with the antique chevron floors. This kitchen looks more like a sideboard in a hallway than a real kitchen. The simple details of the African masks emphasize the zebra wood-like cabinets. The lower kitchen, with the undecorated center island, looks more like a slick and modern flower shop cutting station that's been set up for a buffet.

Mondays- in the Kitchen

One of, if not the most, loved space in the house is the Kitchen. Maybe because it's where families tend to reunite and spend time after a long day outside. In my kitchen I added bookshelves last year that stand tall up to the ceiling behind the banquette. I love how it anchored the entire Kitchen. Now with that in mind I really like how these up-to-the-ceiling upper cabinets make the eyes look up and appreciate the elaborate ceiling and how the glass doors make the whole space- which looks basically like a spacious hallway- look much bigger. One interesting detail is how the darkness inside of the cabinets bring depth to the space contributing to the illusion of a bigger-looking space. The ladder, oh the ladder, ah..design well thought...

The Perfect Kitchen

It's Monday and a beautiful one...Seriously; let's talk about this Kitchen. This is one of the most beautiful kitchens I've seen in my entire life. The flow that tides all the different elements is just perfect. The architectonic black iron sky light tides with the respectable la cornue range and hood and ceiling pendants, the magnificent stunning copper center island picks up the rest of the copper throughout, and those wide slabs of wood floor perfects it even further. This image is topping the file of my kitchen inspiration files. Brilliant!!!

A kitchen like this...

A heavenly ceiling, tall cabinets that make the tiny space look bigger, glam-to-die-for back splash and slick looking cabinets; this kitchen for sure will make us want to cook elaborate and sumptuous meals every single night.

Feeling woody

I can't believe how fast the weekend went by. I spent the past two days putting up wallpaper in our bedroom with the help of my hubby and it's still not complete. The fact that the wallpaper needed to be trimmed didn't help either. I think it would've been a lot more fun to spend my weekend in a kitchen like this where I hear my name being called from. That crystal chandelier hanging from the salvage beams on the ceiling looks like a reigning cloud and the green chairs and disco ball that hangs above the sink bring in that modern feel and soft touch that we all are looking for. I really really love this kitchen. I hope you had a dreamy weekend.

Ice green?

Is there such a thing as Ice green as a color name? I honestly don't know. But if there is... then it should look like this.

I have forever loved this kitchen.

Chicken wire, fireplace and a pantry with chalkboard doors... You add to that wooden warm tones and it's a country kitchen perfection but in a French way.

Kitchen of the day

I honestly couldn't pick only one image among these two kitchens. I mean, can you? And that's because the white pottery, the thick white table (top picture) and the persian rugs, they were all too beautiful to leave one out. Also Because the more storage inspiration the better. right...?

Kitchen of the day...?

I've been dreaming of this kitchen ever since I saw it here. A little bit rustic, a little bit urban and a little bit industrial. Uhm... I wonder if it's my constant love for stripes or perhaps those shelves that make my heart throb...?

Lovely Floors & Getting over a cold

I've been very slow on posting lately due to be fighting a very bad cold. Everyone in this house seem to not getting completely over it but inspiration is always there. And I can't help to get inspired by these lovely floors.

A life in colors

Kids really know how to enjoy life and that usually comes across in their fondness for colors. Wouldn't kids feel in heaven having a room that has everything they usually crave? Cabin-like-bunk beds and lots of color; What else would they ask for? Maybe skipping school...

Now, this kitchen... I just love the striped sink skirt. I can't picture this kitchen without it. You know my obsession for stripes.

Mirror Mirror

When I visited the Munich Residenz, a palace that served as the seat of government and residence of the Bavarian dukes, electors and kings from 1508 to 1918, and I walked through this magnificent hallway, I was instantly transported to the beautiful kitchen (last bottom picture) designed by Scott Slarsky and Katarina Edlund that was featured in former Metropolitan Home magazine in 2007. Impressive resemblance.

Textured Walls

One thing I love is the feeling of unpolished limestone walls in a bathroom. Even though a bathroom with marble on the floors and walls is exquisite and refined to the eyes I think I prefer the warm feeling I get from touching a textured wall in my shower. Marbles and tiles have the tendency to feel colder to the touch. I've been collecting images of rooms with textured walls for my future master bath renovation. I don't think that is anytime soon due to all the other home projects that I need to tackle before, but by the time it comes I'll have enough beautiful images to get inspiration from. How about you, do you prefer finished or unfinished stone in your shower?

Home Trends, Kitchens that don't feel like kitchens

Kitchens that look like anything but kitchens and I love idea.

You can't get a kitchen more dressy than with a silver-leaf Napoleon III mirror above the stove. Richard Norris and Mark Leslie's intention was to have a kitchen that looks more like a dining room. They accomplished it very well. I loved this kitchen.

In Olivier Gagnere's kitchen the cabinetry is covered in crocodile-embossed leather. Now that's fancy. Below is the kitchen in Rose Tarlow's house. A very interesting woman with impeccable style I discovered through Joni. If you, by any chance missed this post you should read it. Rose Tarlow's great style and intriguing personality will inspire you to continue to keep being yourself and to be different.

Everything goes

These two kitchens are completely different yet I love them both. The high ceiling and the cleanness of the black and white of the first image serves as the perfect background for the collection displayed on wood shelves. Whereas the bottom kitchen's layout and tall closed cabinets is a more traditional approach, the apple green cabinets keeps it fun and young. I also think it is a very cool and child-friendly detail to letter the doors.
