The Blues

So growing up, my very favorite color was blue (royal blue specifically).  Blue everything - room, clothes, sporting gear, etc.  As I've grown up (and mature - hahaha), I've come to love TONS of colors - all colors, mixing colors, wearing clashing colors, etc. But still blue is always a color I gravitate towards...

I was on the Keith Richards floor.  Rock on.

Poor Chucky

My little Chucky-bear had his teeth cleaned last weekend.  To do that, the vet puts him under anesthesia .  Because he had something off with his blood work (which they take before the anesthesia to make sure he can handle it), he had to get a little IV in his arm with appropriate nutrients and such.  Anyways, I'm hazy on the details because it's like a foreign language to me, and little guy is just fine now!  But, he was sure out of it for about 24-hours...

Sad baby

And in the meantime, I wore orange and hot pink.

Don't Let Me Fool You...

Just a hint.  I am not in London, though this vintage red telephone booth sure makes me feel like I am!!  Last night I celebrated a good friend's engagement on the patio (finally -- patio weather!) of a bar in Westport.  I even donned a corsage for the occasion.

{Dress - J.Crew Jenny Dress, Leopard Cardi - INC via Macy's, Black Flats - Nine West, Floral Corsage - $1 each last summer from New York & Co}

And because it was a celebration...

mmmm....Cupcakes.

Happy Friday!!  I hope you can have a cupcake this weekend, or go to London. Something like that.

Colorblock & Colored Jeans

You might be sick of this trend by now, but I'm still loving it.  And until I can get my hands on some red jeans, these not-denim-blue-but-royal-blue jeans will have to do.

Leapfrog

I tried not to get blown over or spike myself on a yellow cement pillar during an impromptu game of leapfrog.

{Navy Cardi - J.Crew, Purple Silk Tank - Anthroplogie, Jeans - Gap, Yellow Flats - Target, Pink Cuff - c/o Art on a Wire}

Does this Pink Leather Cuff look familiar?  Michelle Money wore a turquoise version on the Women Tell All episode (seen here). The great people at Art on a Wire sent me my very own as a thank you for blogging about it.  I chose pink.

Now to the leapfrog game.  Lulu won.

 But to be fair.  I did get up a little further, but those photos were not attractive. Lulu makes it look effortless.

Happy Friday!

ASOS Review & A Blue Dress

 Hey all! You saw my new shoes yesterday and I had mentioned I recently placed my first ASOS order.  I had a few questions on my experience, the fit, etc.  So thought I'd give you more info, while showing you what else I got from ASOS.

 {Dress - ASOS Soft Skirt Midi Dress, Stripe Tee Under Dress - J.Crew, Jacket -H&M, Leopard Belt - Target, Rosette Necklace - Twenty Five Design, Heels - Target}

So on to my experience with ASOS.  Once I learned about the free shipping and return shipping (should something not work out), it definitely eased my mind.  Ordering from a new online retailer for the first time can be scary, but especially if you've never tried on something by the brand.

Shopping on ASOS.com is easy.  Select the category you'd like to first browse (say dresses), then you can narrow by color (in this case, blue), skirt style (midi length), and even price range (under $100 for me).  Then your options are easier to flip through.

Selecting my size: I first inspected the dress I was choosing - the style and fit.  In this case, the dress was looser fitting and an elastic waist (no buttons or zippers). Then I read the size guide (clicked on the button next to the size selection) and ordered my size that I normally get (at J.Crew, Loft, etc).

If the dress would have been a more fitted options, I might have considered ordering 2 sizes, since I could return the one that didn't fit for free.

Once I selected my items, I checked out and paid - confirming it was indeed free shipping.  ASOS sent several emails to confirm order, once it shipped and tracking updates.  Keep in mind, it is coming from UK - so maybe took a couple days longer, but I didn't notice.  My 3 items came in two different packages a day apart (my shoes and dress together, and then a skirt separately).  Not sure why.

All in all, a great experience and I will now add ASOS to my go-to online shopping site list.

Shoe of the Day: Nude Bow Flats

It is straight up back to winter in Kansas City.  Cold!  But I've already switched my closets and winter clothes are packed away!  So I forged ahead with my spring clothes and some NEW SHOES.

If you Follow Me on Twitter, you know I made my first ASOS purchase.  I got a skirt, dress and these sweet little shoes.  I loved all 3 items and so glad I finally popped that cherry.  Now I feel like I know how it goes and comfortable shopping there.  On to the shoes and spring clothes...

 Grass clippings sold separately.
London Rebel Classic Pointed Toe Bow Ballerina Flats - also comes in black and coral

I wore these little flats with bright yellow pants, silky pink blouse under a cotton bejeweled tee - Spring Fever.  Kind of looked like an Easter egg?  I'm not sure if primary yellow and pastel pink go together, but I felt a bit more creative than yesterday, at least.

 {Yellow Cropped Pant - J.Crew, Pink Blouse - Loft, Gray Tee - Forever 21, Herringbone Jacket - Anthro, Black purse/camera bag - Theit}

Happy Hump Day.

Miss Professional in a Sundress

 Ya, that's right.  Professional and a sundress! hah!  Doesn't really go together, but I think I made it work.  As I said yesterday - I'm in San Fransisco the first few days of this week for a work conference. Yesterday I wanted to look a bit more professional looking AND where my new J.Crew summery sundress (not online right now - new in store).

Also, I didn't pack great for this trip - so putting together outfits that were warm were a challenge. In Kansas City, temps have warmed up quite a bit.  San Fran ended up being way cooler than I had thought (and I think they're a big cooler than average, so it's not just me being naive - just a little).  I was glad I did bring boots and some tights - and lucky that these brown boots, black tights and navy blazer don't look too clashy!

So much neutral is unlike me - so I added some orange lips & nails and pop of turquoise jewelry!  I think I made this sundress and miss matching neutrals perfectly professional. :)

Favorite Blogger Outfit: Orange Envy

Dude. I'm totally jealous of Linda's, of Little Tin Soldier orangey-red skirt.  Ok, let's be honest, most of the time I'm pretty jealous of anything she wears - as it's always fashion forward with a classic spin.  But her vintage skirt has me lusting after the current J.Crew Dorrie Skirt that, at least in my size and in the modern red color, is on back-order.  I have it coming to me, but not until May 23rd. :(

Anyways, not only is Linda so well-dressed all the time, her photos give me the feeling that she just woke up and effortlessly threw together fabulous outfit morning after morning.

Her outfit deets:
merino boyfriend sweatshirt by j.crew
vintage skirt
handmade necklace
tory burch reva flats

By the way - today is the LAST day to enter my Shabby Apple Dress Giveaway.  It's a great dress.  I'm already jealous of the winner! :)  Enter here.

My Look for the Jess LC Challenge

Are you guys participating in the Jess LC Design Your Look challenge?  I thought it'd be fun to participate and put together a little outfit.   Here is my perfect Spring look idea:

Click on the image to be taken to Polyvore and all the shopping details.

Of course I'm loving the maxi skirt trend, so incorporated a fun teal & navy stripe one that can go from the office with a blazer to happy hour with a one-shoulder blouse underneath. And to top it all off (like icing on top of a cake), bright Jess LC jewelry.

If you are participating in this challenge - please oh please let me know and provide the link to it so I can check your outfit out!  How fun! :)

Hot Pink & Gingham

A little bit of 80s neon with preppy gingham?  Yes, please.  Though I didn't realize until looking at these pictures how short this short dress really is.  I think actually, I might have shrunk this, because it didn't use to be that short.

{Dress - Old J.Crew, Gingham Shirt - Gap, Black/white cuff - Gift, Black Flats - Nine West}

 Oh and I got new hair.  Well, a hair re-haul. I went back blond(er), took an inch of dead ends off all around and then 2-3 inches off for layers throughout.  So, it looks a little short and blonder - and I'm able to wear it straight and not see fried ends!  It feels oh-so-good.  If you are in the Kansas City area, I highly (HIGHLY) recommend the amazing (hair artist if you will), Debbie at Belle Epoch.  Call (816.421.2040), get scheduled with Debbie & tell her Meggy from Chasing Davies sent you!

One of the best parts about Miss Debbie (and there are a lot of good parts), she gives an amazing hair wash...like head massage, great products and a good, deep cleaning.  I wish I could go to her once a week just for the hair wash alone.

A Walk in the Park

Yesterday was my weekly photography class (coming to an end soon with only 2 classes left) and we got to take advantage of the sun and blue sky walking around the sculpture park at Nelson's Atkins Museum.  Lulu took my outfit photos while we pranced around.  Remember to check her blog for this weeks I See, You See feature (assignment was reflections)!

For the outfit, I dabbled with color blocking and didn't even wear a neutral.  Citrus green/yellow, bold purple & light turquoise through and through.

{Cardi - J.Crew oldie, Purple top - Forever21 oldie, Skirt - Gap, Belt - Target, Flats - Urban Outfitters oldies}

Does leopard count as a neutral?

Another Maxi Try

Last week I gave a maxi skirt my first try, and this weekend I wore another one!  This one is more flowy than and has a 70s floral vibe to it.  I can see myself really loving this maxi skirt thing - they are fun to wear.

{Hot pink card - J.Crew via Ebay; Stripe top - J.Crew; Maxi skirt - H&M; Glasses - Forever21; Purse - Theit}

Are you where maxi skirts yet or plan to?  I think the two I have are enough for now, but I will have fun trying to change them up this Spring season.

On another note, it's Lulu's birthday today!  Since she has such a love for photography & we've been taking our classes together - I thought this adorable canvas art was the perfect gift.  "Click Click" by Aisle to Aloha Studio is something I've been eying for myself!  As soon as I get my gallery wall int he kitchen started, I'll have to take another look.  For now, Lulu can enjoy her camera art:

 Happy Birthday, Lulu!!!

Cool Blues

I went with all one color, but with different hues in my outfit for a bachelorette party this past weekend.  I wore teal, turquoise and royal all in one swoop!   I'd never done that before.  All blues!

 And because it was pretty warm this weekend, I went bare legged, and I was pretty exceited about that I guess...

{Blue shawl/cardi - years old via Forever 21; Teal dress - Cynthia Rowly score from TJ Maxx, Turquoise necklace - J.Crew via Ebay, Gold heels - Dillards, Gold bracelet - Loft}
